Welcome and many thanks for visiting ImageArcade, the photo portfolio site of Steve Ayres.
Please have a browse around the site, take a look at the images; the portfolio page or the ‘quick galleries’ are a good place to start. Each of the main image pages has the opportunity to leave comments, so please feel free, be it good or bad!

Munich on first glance appears to be graffiti-free. But there is a healthy paradox between Munich’s squeaky clean image and minimal crime rate, and its reputation in Germany for producing innovative graffiti art. Newcomers may be surprised to learn that Munich is brimming, often legally, with its own brand and history of spray can artistry.

Mumbai RoadsidePicture taken from a taxi of a man sitting and thinking pensively at the roadside in Mumbai. I’m not quite sure how you’d manage to think of anything other than the traffic in Mumbai, but he seemed to be doing a good job! See here for some more snaps from the same trip.

Central Park WalkThis is a particular favourite of mine. A wintery looking Central Park in New York with a dusting of snow that adds some real atmosphere. I also applied a slight HDR effect which has resulted in the almost painting like appearance.

New York, New YorkTaken from the top of the Empire State building at dusk. The Chrysler Building is prominent as Manhattan can be seen lighting up. There was just enough light left in the sky to make the photo. The view looking the opposite way is here.

Sitting at the GuggenheimI saw this woman sitting on a bench with her head obscured by the famous curving architecture of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. I masked the bench to keep it red whilst converting the rest of the image to black and white.

Bradford StreetBlack & while image of desolate street in Bradford West Yorkshire. I left the yellow lines masked while converting to black and white to increase the impact of the shot.

Straws OneMy personal favourite in a series of images taken as an entry to a competition entitled ‘Lines & Circles’. The straws were lit from the side using a snooted flash. Here’s one of the others. See some news relating to this picture here.
